500 Hour Program

Once a student completes our 200-hour Massage Practitioner Program they may immediately enroll into the 500-hour Massage Therapist Program.  Students with previous massage education that has been approved by CAMTC may continue their education here at California Holistic Institute. Students can accumulate their 500 hours from more than one CAMTC-approved school, however, it is CAMTC that determines if your previous education is accepted.

All of the classes here at CHI, are included in our 500-hour program, which is approved by CAMTC. CHI does not transfer any previous training into our 200- or 500-hour programs. Once we meet with you, we will determine which program will be most appropriate to begin your training with us.

Our 500-hour Therapist Program meets the requirements to become California state certified as a "Certified Massage Therapist." There will be additional requirements to complete to become state certified by the California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC). CHI's School Approval Code with CAMTC is SCH0012.

California licensing regulations for our profession is to complete 500 hours of education from a state approved school.  Students will apply to CAMTC.org for their licensing procedure. CAMTC certification requires at least a combined total of 100 hours in anatomy, physiology, contraindications, health and hygiene, business, and ethics. CHI’s 500-hour program meets and exceeds the 100 hours required by CAMTC in the above subject areas.

In order to become state certified you will need to go to CAMTC.org and complete their application. Other requirements include but are not limited to, taking a state approved exam, providing passport-size photo, complete a live scan, requesting transcripts from the institute to CAMTC, and paying an application fee.

Attendance and/or graduation from a California Massage Therapy Council approved school does not guarantee certification by CAMTC. Applicants for certification shall meet all the requirements as listed in California Business and Professions Code section 4600 et. seq.

We also welcome massage practitioners and therapists to take individual classes of interest without full enrollment in our Therapist Program.
